Hi! Thanks for creating for me, or for otherwise taking a look at my letter. I’m fencesit on AO3! I'm requesting all fic for this exchange.
You may notice that I have less details or prompts for some fandoms/ships/mediums than others. Please don't take this as an indication that I want those things any less than other things! I very much desperately want everything I've requested, I've just had more time to request some things than others.
And: please don't feel like you need to follow one of my prompts to keep from disappointing me. I've provided all the information below in an attempt to help my writer feel confident in producing a gift for me, but if prompts and extra details don't work for you then feel free to ignore them.

- So, I would like ninja to still be ninja and cultivators to still be cultivators and I still DNW "in space" AUs, modern AUs, daemon AUs, soulmate AUs, etc...but something like "Airplane-bro made a cultivation otome game instead of writing a cultivation stallion novel" or introducing fun but definitely non-canon marriage-based worldbuilding to Naruto would be fine.
- for freeforms in this exchange that mention a first or previous spouse, I'm fine with noncon (and other forms of abuse) between the previous/first spouse and my requested characters. Implied/referenced is definitely fine; please don't write any explicit noncon involving characters below 18.
- Aging up so everyone is over 18 is fine. Relationships between two people roughly the same age is fine, like a 17 and 19 year old. Minors having unrequited crushes on adults is fine. References to teenagers being sexually active in teenager-typical ways is fine, but I’d rather not get explicit sex scenes. For scenarios in which two adults knew each other when one was a minor, I'd prefer not to have direct references to the possibility that anything could've happened then, even if it's to emphasize that the younger adult is an adult now.
- Exception: If you're writing one of the freeforms about abusive marriages or saving characters from a bad arranged match, I don't mind references to the marriage/arrange match being bad because of the age of the requested character or the implication that the abuse was sexual before the abused character came of age, but I still DNW explicit sex involving characters below 18.

Ship likes:
- Anything on my general likes list is excellent in shipfic too of course. Also, I am a pretty big fan of understated shipfic — if you just put the characters together and show that they care about each other then I don't even need kissing or anything, really, which I think can work well for fandoms where characters are frequently in life-or-death situations or need to be professional. Not that kissing isn't welcome! Just, I am extremely easy to please on the "Is this shippy enough?" front.
- Slow burn, friends to lovers, enemies-to-friends-to-lovers — The slower the better. FWB-to-lovers is also great.
- Characters who have history with each other — established relationships are good, but what I really love is feeling like the characters know each other well and think about each other often. In characters who are already friends, that probably looks like, say, knowing what kind of coffee the other person likes. In characters who were enemies, they probably know each other’s weaknesses and faults really well.
- Arguments where each person thinks the conversation is about something subtly different — I mean, misunderstandings in general are great for tension, but I like it when characters are trying to communicate but they’re coming from perspectives so different that they can’t even argue without clarification.
- Casual physical affection — a lot of my ships involve people who have massive or very specific personal bubbles, so seeing the way the characters touch each other when they’re not already in Kissing Mode is really great.
- Pining, especially longstanding they-could-never-want-me pining — the id wants what the id wants and what the id wants is characters with low self-worth. Bonus points if it's tied up in some kind of misunderstanding about their relationship (eg, "They hate me!" or "I'm ugly!") or their differing rank/species/wealth/etc.
- When their hands touch and other very understated moments of romantic or sexual tension — aaaaaaa I don't even have words for how much I love this, if you include it I will wail happily at you about it in my comment, possibly at length.
Smut likes
I don't usually request smut but if you want to include it then I don't mind. I know that that's kind of an extremely bland and unenthusiastic way to start out but it's, uh, really honest, at least? I'm usually after character interaction, plot, or worldbuilding with my requests, but getting a sex scene along with other stuff definitely wouldn't ruin a gift. Overall, I want you to feel free to write sex if you would enjoy doing so/if you think the fic will be better with it! I'm generally just enthused by my writer getting to have fun writing something they're proud of, you know?
There are obviously some things I do like, and I know some folks really enjoy tailoring their fic (i'm one of them!) so:
- Extremely emotionally charged sex — No matter what kind of sex acts they do, I really love when the sex has a lot of feelings involved, especially if it's sad emotions or desperation or part of some hurt/comfort or whump.
- Sex that's very directly relevant to the plot or character arcs — I love sex scenes where I learn more about a character or relationship. Is 'character driven smut' a thing? Because if so, that's my favorite. And also porn with plot.
- anal and pegging, PIV, frottage, intercural, handjobs, all kinds of fingering, strapons, toys
- overstimulation and edging, orgasm delay/denial
- bondage — handcuffs, spreader bars, honor bondage, and honestly pretty much anything in the general category of restricting someone's movement during sex
- praise kink, loyalty kink, hurt/comfort, trust and sex otherwise overloaded with emotion
- magic/super powers being used in fun and inventive ways
- clothing/uniform kink, half-clothed sex, one naked and the other not.
- hair petting, cuddling, lazy mornings in bed, touch starvation
- size difference, size kink, come inflation, large insertions
- pregnancy, including mpreg — impregnation porn and pregnant sex welcome, eggpreg and het mpreg are also fine. And while we're talking about it, narratively speaking I love a fic where being pregnant/mpregnant is upsetting because the character didn't plan for it, thinks their partner doesn't want it, conceived in a nonconsensual or dubiously consensual way, can't afford it, etc, all of which could be comforted away with or without sex. I'm not much for birthing scenes.
- for noncon: humiliation, bruises/rough sex, manipulation, forced feminization (of men or women!), public/group sex, X made them do it
- probably other things that I'm forgetting! I'm pretty open to a bunch of things that aren't on the above list or mentioned in my DNWs, and if you're unsure if you should include something please feel free to ask through the mods.

The time travel tag is really the whole entire prompt here! I love Magnus and I’m constantly very sad about his wife being dead, so I’d love anything that A) will make me more sad about that and/or B) will act as a fix-it. That is to say, I’d be equally into either of these plots:
- Magnus travels back in time just to relive the wedding.
- He can’t change anything substantially, but he can have a little time with Julia.
- Can you think of anything sadder than Magnus's wedding as narrated by a Magnus who both knows Julia is dead and can't remember who killed her.
- (If you can think of something sadder than that please put that in your fic too, thanks!)
- Everyone loves a time travel fix it, especially me.
- Still sad, but not AS sad, because now things can turn out okay.
- Inherent humor and excitement of Magnus with future knowledge being unable to keep from rushing in.
Obviously this freeform will lose a lot of its ooph if Magnus can't remember like 95% of the events of the Balance arc because of voidfish reasons, so like...please feel free to solve that however you want if you want Magnus to have those memories!
Other notes:
- Maybe Magnus thinks he won't be able to change anything but then discovers that actually when he tries nothing stops him! Surely this won't backfire.
- Magnus could travel far enough back that he also gets to relive/redo planning the wedding and stuff instead of just the wedding day.
- I’m also definitely open to other characters also traveling back as well (eg, Taako, Merle)
- Worldbuilding around Faerun/Raven Roost’s marriage traditions in contrast with what Magnus grew up with would also be excellent, especially if there’s any marriage tradition that Magnus didn’t get to do last time that he gets to do this time because he remembers it.
- A wedding-day time loop would be wonderful as well, because the only thing better/more sad than Magnus traveling back to relive the wedding day once is traveling back to relive it over and over and over again.

I started thinking about this ship because it was nice to imagine Tobirama getting to marry someone who shares his interest in seals! And the more I thought about it the more I wanted it, especially because of the delicious potential for misunderstandings and drama and tension. If possible I would like a happy ending for Tobirama, and I’m down for him and Hashirama to share Mito if that’s the direction you want to go in, or for Hashirama to be into Madara, or for Hashirama to be dead.
Also, I love any kind of focus on ninja being cautious, dangerous, suspicious, sneaky, and etc.I don't need/want them to be grimdark edgelords who assassinate kids once a week or anything, but just kind of...a general awareness that they've been at war their whole lives against the kind of enemies who use illusions, poison, infiltration, subtle manipulation, and any other means necessary to achieve their goals! I love that shit.
Timelines: Before Mito comes to the Senju, after Mito comes to the Senju, pre-village construction, post-village construction... I have no preferences although it'd be nice if Mito and Tobirama could be 18 or older. Don't be afraid to make them much older, like during Tobirama's tenure as Nidaime!
Things I'd like to see explored about Mito:
- Did/does she want to get married to Hashirama? Did/does she want to get married at all?
- How does she feel about the village before/during/after its construction? Who first told her about it? How much did she help with its construction?
- Does she miss Uzushiogakure? Does she play her part in clan and international politics?
- How hard is it for her to become adjusted to living with the Senju? How hard is it for them to become adjusted to her? Do her expectations line up with reality?
- How does Mito feel about the Uchiha?
Things I'd like to see explored about Tobirama:
- How does Tobirama feel about having another accomplished seal master around? Has he ever had so much opportunity to talk about seals before?
- Do he and Mito use the same kind of sealing (maybe Tobirama was taught by the Uzumaki/from Uzumaki materials?) or do they use different sealing techniques (like maybe Tobirama is self-taught?)?
- Does Tobirama desperately want a relationship but think he can't have one? Does he think he doesn't want one until he meets Mito? What do other people assume he thinks about sex/romance and are they right?
- If Mito isn't a kunoichi (or, hasn't frequently fought/taken missions) how does Tobirama feel about being involved with her? — does he consider her vulnerable despite her sealing abilities?

- Bride Thinks Arranged Marriage Is Her Pick Of Brothers, Mistaken Belief That Arranged Marriage Will Be To Sibling of Intended — I love this kind of miscommunication! Ideally in the end everything turns out okay and Hashirama is happy for them.
- I’ve always assumed that Mito and Hashirama’s marriage was arranged and also that Mito probably had a super expensive bride price. Maybe Tobirama’s mission pay over the years has mostly gone into the fund to get Hashirama a good wife? Maybe the Uzumaki find this out and Mito thinks she gets to pick between Hashirama and Tobirama?
- Maybe the betrothal contract wasn't very clear or the name of Mito's husband is misremembered, so when Tobirama shows up to help escort Mito to the wedding everyone just kind of...assumes.
- Whatever exact set up you chose, I'd love to see Mito being frustrated as fuck that Tobirama is so cold and impersonal to her and isn't making any attempt to get to know her, lmao.
- Mito and Tobirama are forced to marry and both think it will go terribly, but grow to like each other
- Mito picks Tobirama as the best out of what she thinks are a lot of bad options
- they’re drawn together by shared grief
- one of them has been silently in love with the other, or they’ve both silently been in love with each other, and now they finally have a chance to confess their feelings and be together.
Senju Tobirama &/ Uchiha Izuna
What I’m really interested in here is all the ways a treaty marriage between Tobirama and Izuna could go terribly, terribly wrong, on account of how they absolutely hate each other and Izuna doesn’t even want the Senju and Uchiha to have peace. I love that Izuna was canonically so opposed to peace with the Senju that he was literally willing to die for it, so I'd love to see what it would take to make Izuna agree to marry Tobirama and what the horrible, horrible results would be!
I have no preference between the & version of the ship or the / version of the ship, but I have tried to select freeforms that indicate I don't expect things to go well between them! Maybe they just plain platonically hate each other, maybe they hate each other but also oh no why is he attractive, maybe one of them is just playing sexy head games with the other, maybe they must consummate the marriage...whatever! I am open to the whole range of possible interactions from "the marriage is 90% then sitting in opposite corners of the room armed to the teeth waiting tensely for murderin' time" to "sex is a part of marriage even when you're married to your enemy who wants to kill you." If you do want to write noncon or dubcon, I prefer Tobirama as the victim because I like him whumped more! I'd also prefer Tobirama be able to escape the situation somehow.
If the marriage is going to result in one of them dying, I'd prefer Izuna. If you want them to get out of the marriage alive, they could just get divorced once everyone realizes what a terrible idea the marriage was, or rescued, or whatever. They could even come to some small kind of understanding, if you want! I don't hate the idea of them eventually learning to tolerate each other, although I think given Izuna's canon attitude expecting that kind of ending within the minimum word count is probably a little ridiculous.
Also, I’m really interested in:
- Tobirama feeling trapped in the marriage because he wants to support Hashirama’s dream and doesn’t actually believe his brother would pick his health/safety over peace for the entire clan.
- Izuna being extremely conflicted over his trust/respect/love for Madara and his hatred/distrust of the Senju; as far as canon shows us he genuinely believes the Senju will look to kill or subjugate the Uchiha and he'll do anything to prevent that.
- Differences between how the Senju and Uchiha view marriage,
- Any kind of focus on ninja being cautious, dangerous, suspicious, sneaky, and etc.I don't need/want them to be grimdark edgelords who assassinate kids once a week or anything, but just kind of...a general awareness that they've been at war their whole lives against the kind of enemies who use illusions, poison, infiltration, subtle manipulation, and any other means necessary to achieve their goals! When it comes to the freeforms about one of them plotting to kill the other, I don't have any preference for which of them it is! I think Izuna is more likely — because one of them dying would definitely ruin whatever alliance their clans have and I don't think Tobirama wants that — but maybe Tobirama is planning to be very sneaky or is working from future knowledge because he's time traveled or something! Either way my character death DNW does cover Tobirama (I would like him to live!) but not Izuna (he can live if you want, but I think it'd be very in-character for him to be killed by Tobirama!) and under no circumstances do Izuna and Tobirama need to stay married or be happy.

Senju Tobirama/Uchiha Madara
This ship has just SUCH good potential for tension, conflict, politics, and iddy, iddy goodness. They're from two warring clans! They're at the center in a crazy shift in ideology and warfare! They're both hot! Listen, I could gush about them forever.
Tobirama and Madara have a really interesting contrast (eg, Tobirama is logical, keeps his emotions locked down, has a strong leaning towards analysis and systems...and meanwhile Madara is like a big huge hot mess of All The Feelings) and the fact that they were probably raised very differently and definitely raised on opposite sides of a longstanding conflict is hella good. Their thoughts on the village, their approaches to problem solving, and even probably their very fundamental belief systems are extremely different and that's the kind of thing that can lead to really interesting tension. What they do have in common (Hashirama, losing brothers, wanting to protect their clans, each at some point in some way genuinely believing in Konoha, probably PTSD from the whole child soldier thing) makes for an interesting foundation to build a relationship.
I'd love something that explores how hard it is for them to trust each other, especially when vulnerable. Any kind of focus on ninja being cautious, dangerous, suspicious, sneaky, and etc.I don't need/want them to be grimdark edgelords who assassinate kids once a week or anything, but just kind of...a general awareness that they've been at war their whole lives against the kind of enemies who use illusions, poison, infiltration, subtle manipulation, and any other means necessary to achieve their goals! I love that shit.

Or Izuna died in some other way! Or the village never came together! The world is your oyster. I'm somewhat less interested in anything set after Madara leaves the village, but only because I like happy endings; if you think you can make it work please go for it.

- Arranged Marriage Contract Bought Out By Someone Else — I love the idea of Madara getting a step towards peace by snatching up Tobirama's marriage contract right out from under the Senju's noses, especially if Tobirama is like "Oh, no, I will be used as a hostage but it will never work because my father will absolutely just let the Uchiha kill me, yikes" but then it turns out Madara just wants to play house and talk about Konoha and watch for Hashirama to become clan head so real negotiations can begin.
- Arranged marriage to end conflict, Political marriage but mutual pining, Political marriage to enemy that turns to love — I know it's extremely extra to request all three of these but they're like, slightly different flavors, and I really want all of them.
- Both Spouses Are In Love But Believe The Other Is In The Marriage Out Of Obligation — ...okay requesting the three of the ones above and this one is EXTRA extra but I'm sorry I needed it. It's just so delicious to imagine them trying to focus on the marriage as a duty and a practical concern instead of the romance it actually is.
- Character Entering Into M/M Marriage Invents Mpreg In Hopes Of Pleasing Their Spouse With An Heir — I just think Tobirama clearly sees potential problems and then tries to fix them, usually skipping over questions like "should I fix this?" and jumping straight to "can I fix this?", frequently to everyone's confusion and horror. I mean, mpreg isn't on par with literal actual raising of the dead but like, still, Tobirama, calm down!
- I'm down for the "they did anal, he's pregnant, don't ask about specifics" variety of mpreg
- or maybe it's a jutsu thing instead of a sex thing, like a test tube baby but Tobirama is the test tube.
- or maybe Tobirama goes for a more established means of giving birth by modifying his body, complete with womb, vagina, and birth canal. I am ambivalent about what exactly is going on down there so long as Tobirama is the one making choices about what it looks like and how it works.
- Whatever way you choose, I would prefer that Tobirama not have very much internal conflict about it or dysphoria over it; I'd like it to be his choice and one he's fine with making for the results if not for the experience.
- For this canon, I prefer this to be a cultural thing rather than a magic AU thing! So, like, society at large or just ninja or just one clan consider marriage to be a way (or the only way) to repay a life debt, any maybe it's a religious thing or a superstition, but no one gets soulmarks about it or soulbonds over it or gets hit by lightening for hesitating on the way to the altar, if that makes sense? I especially like it that way because it can preserve some of the inherent Narutoverse tension and danger!
- I don't have any preference for who saves who.
- Given the logistics of someone needing to run the Uchiha clan I assume Tobirama would marry into the Uchiha...but heck, if you want to plot it the other way go ahead!
- Timeline-wise pre-village probably makes more sense (they're enemies so it's more notable!) although after peace but before the village makes sense (it's a tentative alliance still, so it matters a lot that one of them helped the other and a marriage will help solidify things!) and if you really want to do it after the village is founded — well, maybe it was a really extreme life saving, I guess?

I love that LQG mistakenly thinks SQQ tried to kill him and SQQ knows that LQG thinks that and never apparently tried to clarify it. SQQ is so hilariously petty and honestly is the very definition of getting in his own way and meanwhile LQG doesn't see him clearly at all, so the idea of them getting married and then having to work that shit out is absolutely stunning. And so is the idea of them having a different first meeting, because sometimes you just want to see what characters would do if you remove the bad blood between them.

Probably because YQY asks him to, or because he knows YQY would want him to. (Also, the "worse fate" could be something else, actually, but the thing about YQY still stands I think, lmao.) - Character Thinks Their Spouse is Trying to Kill Them — Considering canon...I mean, I'd just love to see LQG go into a marriage with SQQ under the impression that SQQ might kill him or is even possibly directly aiming to do so.
- Marriage to Satisfy Life-Debt / Life-Debt is Considered Marriage — I love the idea of saving someone's life meaning always being connected to them, and I think that this is exactly the kind of convoluted trope Airplane-bro would have written in for wife #450 without necessarily thinking through the consequences

Character A Not As Over Traumatic First Marriage As They Thought — What I like about these particularly is that no matter which character it was who was previously married, neither of them would expect a second marriage to the other to actually be an improvement, lmao, so the tension would be off the charts. No preference on which of them had the previous marriage or who they were married to.
Liu Qingge/Shen Yuan | Shen Qingqiu (SVSSS)
I really love the inherent tension in LQG growing to care for Shen Yuan!SQQ after his tumultuous experiences with the original goods, and I extra love a good dose of Liu Qingge pining for SY. Also, I find LQG's really quick switch to incredibly deep loyalty super fascinating and iddy and I think he really has some of the most wonderful and straightforward lines in the entire book. IMO the shippy vibes are off the charts and I would just LOVE to see them have to get married. Or choose to get married! But still be kind of bad with communicating! Especially SQQ, who never met an emotion he couldn't ignore or at least hide.

This ship has it all??? Miscommunication! Loyalty/fealty! Cultural differences! Class/status difference! A daring rescue! A dramatic reveal! Noodles!
I am still in that phase of shipping this ship where my first thought when I try to explain why I like it is to just emphatically gesture at very canon passages but, okay, I find it really interesting that SQH is a disaster and MBJ is too stoic for his own good. They're never on the same page until they get together and that appeals to me a lot, especially in a marriage exchange where they can be shoved together and made to have a wedding and live together before any actual, real communication can take place.
Also I think it would be hard to read a fic that focuses too hard on the beating-three-times-a-day canon, but I definitely wouldn't mind SQH being kind of afraid of his life/unable to stop thinking about how MBJ is going to kill him eventually, so long as he's also turned on/romantically flustered/just kind of generally seriously into MBJ despite his worries.

I'm not picky about the details but I do love politics and worldbuilding if you want to include them!
- Avoiding arranged marriage by marrying someone else — I think MBJ is the more likely one to have a marriage to avoid, but either way is fine! I could also go a couple ways with how it actually happens — maybe MBJ plans/suggests it seriously, maybe SQH brings it up as a nervous joke or genuinely just thinks of it as a stalling tactic and is waiting for MBJ to divorce him, ahaha.
- Character Entering Into M/M Marriage Invents Mpreg In Hopes Of Pleasing Their Spouse With An Heir — I kind of doubt Airplane-bro wrote mpreg into his extremely het stallion novel, given that it was an apparently very successful porny male power fantasty and he was a total sellout, but I'm down for "inventing" here to mean "discovering" if you want to go with mpreg having been in some earlier, unpublished draft or something! What's important to me about this freeform is one character (probably SQH) being so anxious about their upcoming (potentially arranged/politically motivated?) marriage that they put a lot of effort into making sure they can have kids for their powerful spouse!
- I'm down for the "they did anal, he's pregnant, don't ask about specifics" variety of mpreg
- or maybe it's a jutsu thing instead of a sex thing, like a test tube baby but SQH is the test tube.
- or maybe SQH goes for a more established means of giving birth by modifying his body, complete with womb, vagina, and birth canal. I am ambivalent about what exactly is going on down there so long as SQH is the one making choices about what it looks like and how it works.
- Whatever way you choose, I would prefer that SQH not have very much internal conflict about it or dysphoria over it; I'd like it to be his choice and one he's fine with making for the results if not for the experience.

Marriage of Convenience - Divorcing Terrible Spouse Requires Support From Prospective New Spouse — No opinion on which of them has had a first marriage or who that marriage was to or what gender that first spouse is.
- I think SQH is marginally more likely to be the one with the first spouse just because MBJ is more likely to, uh, enter and win ritual combat, but I'd be into SQH doing it instead!
- "Support" for the divorce could be anything from "they need emotional support to leave/get through the divorce" to "by 'divorcing' did you mean 'secretly assassinating'?". Or maybe all it takes to divorce your old terrible spouse is literally finding someone, anyone, to marry you ASAP!

Okay, although obviously these are different ships, I am looking for more or less the same things with all of them:
- Xing culture
- Xing court politics
- Xing inter- and intra-clan politics
- a focus on differing status/social class/economic brackets within a relationship
- competence kink and generally exploring how these characters do their jobs (and indeed what those jobs even are!)
- friendship, complex familial relationships, any kind of emphasis on these characters having known each other in wildly different contexts before getting married
- characters trying to do their duty at the same time as feeling, whoof, a LOT of feelings
- pining, ok, definitely lots of pining
Maybe you look at that list and you don't care about Xing court politics but you DO care about pining — or the other way around — and I am SO down for that! You definitely don't have to try and include everything on that list and you don't have to be into every pairing I've selected, I just wanted to get the repetitive bits out of the way.
I would be interested in post-canon fics or fics that take place in a verse where canon didn't happen. I am fine with all of these ships happening at the same time as long as Mei and Ling don't have any romantic or sexual contact, but obviously I don't require that — I like them just fine on their own!!
Lan Fan/Ling Yao(/Greed)
I love these characters individually and as a ship I think there are so many really really interesting stories that can be told. I love Ling's ambition and protectiveness and how responsible he feels for the people under his care and I love how devoted Lan Fan is and how she literally cuts her own arm off oh my god she's so hardcore and — if you want to include him — I love that Greed doesn't want to admit how human he is until basically the very last possible moment.
Also, I am not especially into Ling having a harem, but if you want to include it I don't mind! Obviously I would like a Lan Fan/Ling focus, but it would be interesting seeing Lan Fan navigate harem politics if you're interested in writing it. If you're not, that's fine too! Greed could have his own body somehow or just be sharing Ling's.
Finally, okay, I went to write down specifics for the freeforms below but it turns out I'm EXTREMELY basic in what I want for a bunch of them so I will just tell you here: Pining! I want them to pine! I want them to angst over how much they want each other and think it can never happen and then! Oh! Then! It turns out okay!! We know that they care very deeply for each other and they know that about each other, too, but I would love to see them be hesitant to believe that the other really actually loves them and isn't just doing their duty! I would also especially like to see Lan Fan struggle with thinking of herself as Ling's servant/protector even though she's now his wife.

I'd also love to see something where Ling uses his power of Being Literally The Emperor to marry Lan Fan and only Lan Fan. (Or maybe there is a harem and it's A. Lan Fan and B. Greed)
- Marriage of Convenience - Divorcing Terrible Spouse Requires Support From Prospective New Spouse — Whether it's literally just that Lan Fan can't divorce without Ling's permission/help as her lord/the emperor of Xing orrrr if it's more that she needs emotional support, I'd be really into this!
Lan Fan&/Mei Cheng
ENEMIES TO ALLIES TO FRIENDS (TO LOVERS)!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay now that we've got the obvious out of the way, hell yes, I love these two and as interesting as they are apart they'd be even more interesting together! Lan Fan is an extremely driven, devoted person who's willing to literally kill Mei the first time they meet even though Mei is so young, and Mei is determined and brave and skilled and I would just REALLY love to see them fumble their way towards being closer and trusting and understanding each other! I don't really haver a preference between gen or ship for this pairing, I would really enjoy it either way.
Also, post-canon would be wonderful but I'd love to see any of these take place in a canon divergence where they never met in Amestris so they're full-on enemies or strangers when they get married!
Finally, I would love some hurt/comfort worked into even the prompts that don't directly imply it! I love h/c. If you need ideas for that, my Hurt/Comfort Exchange letter might be helpful, especially the Mei & Yao Ling request, because not only would I love some Mei & Ling in the background of any fic, I would also enjoy all of those freeforms written for Mei in pretty much any relationship!

- Arranged Marriage Contract Bought Out By Someone Else — I would love either A) the Cheng clan having gotten into a position to be able to buy Lan Fan's contract or B) Ling buying Mei's contract for Lan Fan! In either case I'm fine with any motive for it, from matchmaking to sneaky clan warfare to saving the other from a terrible marriage.
- Arranged marriage to end conflict — As anyone who's ever looked at my Naruto requests could tell you, I love people from different clans marrying each other to end the fighting between the two clans. It could be to solidify an alliance or just to take a hostage!
- Deathbed Wedding And Unexpected Survival — No preference for which one of them is the one on the deathbed! Maybe it's political, to bring the clans together, or maybe it's religious, but either way I'd love the awkward awkward aftermath where they have to actually live together and figure out how to be married!
- Marriage only means of saving one's homeland, Marrying To Avoid Destitution — Mei's clan canonically had financial trouble, I believe, so! I would love to see Mei marrying Lan Fan be the way her clan gets help from the Yao clan.
- Marriage to Satisfy Life-Debt / Life-Debt is Considered Marriage — I love the idea of saving someone's life meaning always being connected to them, and in a canon like FMA with characters who are or were enemies, I love the idea of a single life debt being so heavy and notable that it starts turning everything around! Furthermore:
- For this canon, I prefer this to be a cultural thing rather than a magic AU thing! So, like, society at large or just Xing or just one clan consider marriage to be a way (or the only way) to repay a life debt, any maybe it's a religious thing or a superstition, but no one gets soulmarks about it or soulbonds over it or gets hit by lightening for hesitating on the way to the altar, if that makes sense? I especially like it that way because it can preserve some of the inherent tension and danger of their clans being enemies!
