Hi! Thanks for writing for me, or for otherwise taking a look at my letter.

Ship likes:

• Characters who have history with each other — established relationships are good, but what I really love is feeling like the characters know each other well and think about each other often. In characters who are already friends, that probably looks like, say, knowing what kind of coffee the other person likes. In characters who were enemies, they probably know each other’s weaknesses and faults really well.
• Arguments where each person thinks the conversation is about something subtly different — I mean, misunderstandings in general are great for tension, but I like it when characters are trying to communicate but they’re coming from perspectives so different that they can’t even argue without clarification.
• Cynical/pessimistic/distrustful characters being proven wrong by things turning out better than they could have hoped for — for example: I could never be loved! → Is absolutely loved, We could never have peace. → Peace is had

The time travel tag is really the whole entire prompt here! I love Magnus and I’m constantly very sad about his wife being dead, so I’d love anything that A) will make me more sad about that and/or B) will act as a fix-it. That is to say, I’d be equally into either of these plots:

• Magnus travels back in time just to relive the wedding. He can’t change anything substantially, but he can have a little time with Julia.
• Magnus travels back in time to fix things, and happens to travel back to the day of his wedding.

I’m also definitely open to other characters also traveling back as well (eg, Taako, Merle) or Magnus traveling far enough back that he also gets to relive/redo planning the wedding and stuff. Worldbuilding around Faerun/Raven Roost’s marriage traditions in contrast with what Magnus grew up with would also be excellent, especially if there’s any marriage tradition that Magnus didn’t get to do last time that he gets to do this time because he remembers it.

I love these two idiots, and I’ve requested both & and / for them because I’m open to both the typical hilarious platonic jackassery that boys get up to on the show as well as actual shippy content. Or both! Mostly, I love these two together because they’ve got great contrast regarding how they approach the world and other people and I think that it makes them a really wonderful team-up.

The freeforms are of course excellent prompts all by themselves, but here’s a little extra:

• During one of the years on the Starblaster, Aliens Make Them Get Married or Aliens Think They’re Married, and for Reasons™ possibly involving not upsetting the locals, Taako and Magnus have to play along in a Marriage That Must Last One Year.
• While goofing around/harassing some poor NPC stranger/doing one of their shitty, pointless cons, Merle plays officiant and marries Taako and Magnus only for it to turn out that the Supposedly Fake Marriage Is Accidentally Real
• The Series of Mishaps Prevent Annulment of Accidental Marriage is caused by the deity of love/marriage, which makes it a real bitch to sort out.
• In the lead-up to Killian and Carey’s wedding, Taako and Magnus reminisce about Alien Marriage Traditions and maybe stun and confuse the Faerun natives with various Alien Cultural Differences Over Marriage

As you might gather from the last prompt there, no need to actually make Taako and Magnus the ones getting married, if you’re inspired otherwise — I really want fic focused on them where they’re the main characters and they have to deal with Marriage Stuff, but I have no ship real ship preferences for this fandom! So if you’re inclined to write Taako/Kravitz with Magnus trying to help Taako explain wedding traditions from their original world to Kravitz, that’d be swell.

Fandom note: Church is a three and a half minute original animatic by EmptyFeet that you can watch here. It’s about a demon and a nun! There’s also a bunch of extra information in this tag of their tumblr. I’ll probably keep up with the tag, but if you don’t want to read the extra word of god stuff and just go off of what’s in the video and nothing else, that’s fine too! It’d be silly of me to expect you to worry about being jossed by a tumblr ask.

Shipping notes: I’m definitely in this ship for the intense feelings more than anything else, but please write whatever seems right to you! Smut and exciting genitals are welcome if that’s where your heart leads you, but I’d also be open to a more gen found family focus.

Sanga/Ashivon

What I like about Sanga/Ashivon is a long list! The forbidden romance, the aesthetics of the two of them together (including the height difference!), and the moral/ethical/cultural differences that they’d have to navigate definitely top the list. I like imagining both of them pining for the other without knowing if the other feels anything for them — both of them not even knowing if the other considers them, like, a person, even! — and also the sudden whiplash of having to go from that to relying on each other and only each other.

EmptyFeet has also said that the hug from Sanga that Ashivon gets in the animatic is literally the only friendly human touch Ashivon has ever gotten, which means it’s also the only friendly touch Ashivon’s had since he was a kid. Touch starvation? Touch starvation! :D

Worldbuilding about the church/demons on EmptyFeet’s tumblr has come up with some other stuff I like, too, including that demons purr, that they’re not very furry, that they’re summoned by sacrificing a human of relatively the same size/age, and that they have their own language.

I think the tags pretty much work as prompts themselves, but if you want a couple extra:

• Sanga is pretty masculine in the animatic which, not gonna lie, I love. If you’re doing Secretly Married Character Must Pretend To Be Subservient To Their Spouse, maybe Sanga has to pretend to be a man in addition to pretending that Ashivon is her servant?
• The unnamed demon kid does hypothetically have demon parents somewhere. You could use that as an excuse for the kid not being around — I’m not attached to having the kid there — but you could also write Sanga and Ashivon trying to get him home. Maybe that’s what the Magic Ritual Requires Marriage is for.
• I’m interested in either or both of them Desiring a Religious Wedding. How religious is Ashivon? Does Sanga hesitate to bring it up with him?

Also, you might have noticed I love Tobirama! I would love some Tobirama whump or hurt/comfort, especially if it focuses on Tobirama looking weird for a Senju and the whole clan being convinced that no one could ever want him and he could never get married.

Senju Tobirama/Uzumaki Mito

I started thinking about this ship because it was nice to imagine Tobirama getting to marry someone who shares his interest in seals! And the more I thought about it the more I wanted it, especially because of the delicious potential for misunderstandings and drama and tension. If possible I would like a happy ending for Tobirama, and I’m down for him and Hashirama to share Mito if that’s the direction you want to go in, or for Hashirama to be into Madara, or for Hashirama to be dead.

As always, freeform tags are pretty excellent prompts, but have some extra thoughts:

• I’ve always assumed that Mito and Hashirama’s marriage was arranged and also that Mito probably had a super expensive bride price. Maybe Tobirama’s mission pay over the years has mostly gone into the fund to get Hashirama a good wife? Maybe the Uzumaki find this out and Mito thinks she gets to pick between Hashirama and Tobirama.
• Mito accidentally falling in love with Tobirama during her engagement to Hashirama, something which Tobirama is maybe 100% oblivious about.
• Since Mito’s bride price was so expensive/the Uzushio–Senju is so important, Mito isn’t allowed to go back to Uzushio if Hashirama dies or divorces her. She has to be married to a Senju. I would enjoy pretty much any variation on this, including but not limited to:
  • Mito and Tobirama are forced to marry and both think it will go terribly, but grow to like each other
  • Mito picks Tobirama as the best out of what she thinks are a lot of bad options
  • they’re drawn together by shared grief
  • one of them has been silently in love with the other, or they’ve both silently been in love with each other, and now they finally have a chance to confess their feelings and be together.
• Hashirama is busy with something so Tobirama is sent to pick Mito up and escort her to the Senju/the wedding venue. Mito spends the whole trip thinking Tobirama is her husband-to-be.

Senju Tobirama & Uchiha Izuna

I requested this as an & ship because I didn’t want to be matched to someone who wanted to write Enemies-to-Lovers. Not that those people aren’t legitimate, valid shippers! But what I’m really interested in here is all the ways a treaty marriage between Tobirama and Izuna could go terribly, terribly wrong, on account of how they absolutely hate each other and Izuna doesn’t even want the Senju and Uchiha to have peace.

• For Attempting Suicide To Frame Their Spouse For Murdering Them, I’d love for Izuna to be so committed to ruining the peace and fucking Tobirama over that he keeps trying to frame Tobirama for poisoning him and/or goad Tobirama into killing him directly.
  • I have a DNW for “suicide/suicidal ideation” which obviously doesn’t apply to this tag, although I’d very much prefer Izuna to be doing this out of spite, paranoia, conviction, and deep unabiding hatred, rather than hopelessness.
  • Izuna can totally succeed in dying, but hopefully things eventually turn out okay for Tobirama?
  • This is of course a pretty convoluted plot — maybe the Uchiha are worried about the reaction from civilians if they find out, or something?
• If you want Izuna and Tobirama to get out of the marriage alive, they could just get divorced once everyone realizes what a terrible idea this was.
• I’m also really interested in Tobirama feeling trapped in the marriage because he wants to support Hashirama’s dream and doesn’t actually believe his brother would pick his health/safety over peace for the entire clan.

Although I don’t want any romance or even, particularly, lust between Tobirama and Izuna, I’d be open to receiving a work that includes Izuna nonconning or dubconning Tobirama as a way to assert power over him.

Senju Tobirama/Uchiha Madara

Tobirama and Madara interacting is so iddy for me no matter the details. I have a particular weakness for canon divergence for them, taking place before the village or avoiding Izuna's death somehow, although something darker and harder set after Izuna's death would also be great! Feel free also to have Izuna die for reasons other than Tobirama killing him.

Here are a couple variations I’d like:

• Hashirama decides that Tobirama should marry into the Uchiha to seal the peace. Or, maybe, decides that a Senju should marry an Uchiha and then is very surprised when Madara actually wants Tobirama.
• After the village is founded, Madara falls in love with Tobirama. Tobirama is prone to interpreting any expression of affection from people besides Hashirama as threatening, mocking, and/or manipulation, so Madara has an uphill battle even convincing Tobirama there are feelings, let alone marrying him.
• The treaty marriage was to Izuna, and it was undeniably abusive. Madara arranges for Tobirama to divorce Izuna and marry him instead so that the peace between the clans won’t be threatened.
• Madara and Tobirama start having sex to knock Tobirama up long before there are any feelings; because Tobirama is the “wife”, Madara unilaterally decides when and how they have sex.
