Hi! Thanks for creating for me, or for otherwise taking a look at my letter. I’m fencesit on AO3! I'm requesting all fic for this exchange.
DNW:

- canon divergence is okay
- obviously the crossovers and non-canon divergent AUs I'm requesting may involve some adjustment of the world the characters live in, which is fine! I would like ninja to still be ninja and cultivators to still be cultivators and so on, though.
- it's fine for a time looping character to kill themself to start a new loop, if that's a mechanic you want to include, as long as they're doing it to deliberately reset the loop rather than in hopes of dying for good.
- please see specific clarifications for The Untamed in that section.

- derealization — An alteration in the perception or experience of the external world so that it seems unreal.
- depersonalization — The persistent feeling of observing oneself from outside one’s body or having a sense that one’s surroundings/body aren't real.
- Typically dissociation shows up as reaction to stress or trauma where the character experiencing it feels disconnected in some way from their emotions, their body, reality, etc; sometimes the character acts on autopilot.
- If you're writing/drawing a character who's literally having an out of body experience (like, because they're a ghost and something else has taken over their body) or dealing with an actual fake world (like, because they're trapped in a magical illusion) then that's okay.
- magically preserved non-rotting undead like vampires or skeletons are fine

- including using characters from other canons as stand-ins for OCs, even if the character or their appearance in the fic is very minor.

- the rotting undead/zombies clarification: TLJ kind of falls into this category but I love him and he can definitely show up! Please gently skirt around any gross details about his poor sad plant body — mentions of his limbs falling off are fine, but description of why exactly they won't stay attached is best left implied.
The Untamed DNWs/clarifications
- DNW plot/characterization drawn from other related canons — I haven't read MDZS yet, am behind on the donghua, etc. I don't mind smaller worldbuilding details or character information being pulled from the novel where it doesn't contradict The Untamed, but I will get confused if you blend the events of the two canons!
- DNW more than one character looping
- DNW looping character to be permanently dead at the end of the fic — otherwise I will leave it up to you what making things "better" via the timeloop means to each character, as I don't need an everyone lives/nobody dies AU and each character will surely have different priorities.
- suicide/suicidal ideation clarification:
- the suicides in the show are fine to mention/have happen/include on-screen, but I don't want anything written from the POV of those characters in that moment
- the rotting undead/zombies clarification: Obviously, the show has puppets, not zombies...but okay, they're kind of basically exactly obviously zombies, lmao, and to be honest I do love necromancy as a narrative element despite being squeamish and weak.
- You can stick with show-canon "they were just puppets!"/"Wen Ning was only mostly almost dead!" if you want!
- or you can have them be zombies, but I really do DNW the "rotting" part of this DNW — please let your undead be either freshly killed, magically preserved, or past the point of rotting (eg, skeletons, ghosts!).

Time travel Likes!
For me, a lot of the appeal is rooted in seeing how a time traveler's understanding of everything can shift — how a day that was happy the first time around is sad or scary the second time around, how they recontextualize the actions of those around them based on what they know everyone will do in the future, how their values and goals and relationships can shift and change.
I love it when time travellers blame people for actions they haven't taken yet. I love it when they grieve people who aren't yet dead. I love how the reader and the time traveller frequently get to share the future knowledge, both tasting the same dramatic irony and basking in the warm glow of fixing something that went to shit the last time around!! And I love especially especially especially the emotional logistical nightmare of it all: trying to keep it a secret even though they've changed so much; not knowing who to trust; not knowing who would believe them; not knowing if anyone would help them; struggling to keep their actions logically consistent with who they're supposed to be in the time that they're in.

I love Tsunade. She's so traumatized and so strong! Genuinely my favorite Hokage, and I would very much like something that focuses on that time in her life — she has to keep the village together after the Third's death and everything is a MESS and I find that really, really compelling.
Please feel free to throw in gratuitous time travel, if that's your speed...or write something potentially canon compliant! Both sound great. Dreaming of Sunshine also welcome.

Or not — I'd actually also be interested in a fic exploring how doomed TLJ is and how bad SQH feels about it but how much he can't do anything about it. So you know, dealer's choice!

Injured Character Can't Complete Rescue Mission Without Help From Unlikely Source
LBH gets to be OP in his canon so I confess I lean towards Sakura being the one to provide the rescue, but on the other hand LBH is so OP it is a little hard to imagine that he'd be injured and need help! Still, through the power of contrived Airplane plots I think anything is possible, so whichever way you want to write this freeform will surely be perfect.
- Maybe LBH's injury is poisoned so he's not as OP as usual? Maybe the rescue involves some ninja-y finesse that a cultivation-trained OP demon lord simply can't replicate?
- If Sakura is the one that needs the help, well! There are a lot of rescue situations that LBH would be helpful for — I'm down for something where Sakura just needs a moment to apply first aid to herself and then LBH provides extra fire power, or a very good distraction! But also LBH is smart, resourceful, and politically powerful, so I'd love to see a situation where it's his brain instead of his brawn that helps.
- ...also, please feel free to take a very loose interpretation of this freeform! The "injured character" could be SQQ, who is technically incurably poisoned for most of canon, and maybe he needs someone who isn't poisoned to go fish LBH out of the Endless Abyss!
- If Sakura is the rescuer, please feel free to throw any additional ninja teammates in with her that you want. Or have her on a solo mission!
Strangers Must Cooperate/Trust Each Other To Solve Problem And/Or Prevent (Fate Worse Than?) Death
Whereas the rescue freeform has one of them helping the other in a time of need, this one sticks them in the same bad situation equally, which I think could also be really compelling! The freeform is admittedly phrased kind of messily, but only because I decided I really don't care how dire the situation is for them. I would like there to be some stakes, but this freeform could be "strangers must cooperate to solve problem" low stakes or it could be high stakes "strangers must trust each other to prevent fate worse than death" or it could be somewhere in between!
I would like for them to be equally annoyed/threatened by the problem/threat of death, but don't necessarily require they be on the same page about it immediately of course!
Low stakes problems: lack of hot water for bathing at hotel/inn, murder mystery where the murderer is clearly not going to be a threat, held captive by incompetent assholes, they're both falsely accused of the same crime or related crimes and must figure out whodunnit, both massively inconvenienced by a natural dsaster
High stakes problems: lost their powers and are in mortal danger, must navigate wilderness with limited supplies/magic, held captive by innovative assholes, lost in the Endless Abyss together, dealing with the search/rescue/other logistics following a massive natural disaster
SVSSS/Naruto - Haruno Sakura Reborn As Ning Yingying Or Other Cang Qiong Disciple
I love reincarnation SO MUCH. I genuinely have no preference on if Sakura takes NYY's place or not — I think it would be really interesting, but I also think it'd be cool for her to be a Qian Cao disciple or something! I'm really interested in Sakura's POV of Cang Qiong, because there's no way she'll be able to keep from measuring it against Konoha, and if you like worldbuilding then please pile it on and tell me all the ways this society is strange in comparison to the Narutoverse society, I will eat that up with a spoon.

Time Loop Where Character Makes Things Worse Before Making Them Better
Time travel - trying to change the past but hampered by lack of full knowledge of past
(Okay, the below letter section was originally written for the time loop freeform but! The other freeform really called to be to and 95% of what I've said below applies to it! Sorry for not rewriting this from the ground up!)
Oh my god the potential. The POTENTIAL. I want to see characters making things worse because A) they just have character flaws that make it inevitable before they have some character growth and/or B) they don't understand what the fuck is going on with, like, Meng Yao's various plots and/or C) they don't understand the people they're trying to help. I want to see the character start out thinking "Okay, that first time around was bad, but if I just—" and then there's no simple fix because everything is terrible in so many ways, so they have to change their whole approach in order to actually achieve a fixit!
Per my DNW section, please feel free to adjust what you think "making them better" means for each character based on their own POV — I don't need absolutely every character in the fandom to have a happy ending as long as the time looping POV character thinks it's a good ending.
Characters
- Jiang Cheng — I'm especially interested in Jiang Cheng's relationships with JYL, WWX, and WQ...and also maybe his relationship with his parents! I love that he shouts and has a lot of feelings but never talks about them even when he should and I love that he's 100% behind putting him and his first and totally doesn't get why WWX always wants to stick his neck out for other people. Is there a version of events where he can care about just his own people and fuck everyone else? Is he satisfied with that? Is WWX?
- Jin Zixuan — This guy!!!! I didn't like him very much and then he talked about Jiang Yanli and Jin Ling while he was dying and oops he's great. Also, I think he has no fucking clue what's actually going on at any point and then he dies before anything can be unraveled, so watching him try to fix things would be great because oops surprise everything is six layers of garbage deep! I'm interested in his relationship with JYL — whether or not it stays romantic in your fic — and with his mother, Mian Mian, WWX, JGY, and even Jin Zixun.
- Lan Qiren — Lan Qiren is a really wonderful minor antagonist because from his point of view everything he does is totally reasonable and even really responsible, and I would really love to see his point of view get challenged over and over again as he tries to unfuck everything but keeps accidentally finding more fucked up stuff. Like, you know, setting out to do something about Lan Wangi being so into that evil, evil Wei Wuxian and then whoops oh god he's stumbled into thirteen of Jin Guangyao's atrocities. (Also I have more thoughts/prompts about LQR in my TOT letter.)
- Nie Huaisang — So much sneaking! So much lying and laying low! I love that NHS figured JGY out and then had to very carefully plot to take him down, and I would love to see what he'd do with a headstart to save his brother and oust JGY from his position of power. I'd also love to know if you think he'd be able to stop there — given as many do-overs as he'd like, would he stop at just taking out JGY and saving his brother, or would he gain new goals along the way? I'm particularly interested in NHS's relationship with NMJ, GJY, LXC, and WWX. (I also have more thoughts/prompts about NHS in my HA letter.)
- Qin Su — Qing Su gets SUCH a raw deal and (for the time loop freeform) I really really want to see her get as many attempts at this as she needs to get a happy ending! I'm really interested in her feeling trapped and alone, having no one she can go to for help, and then using the time loops to try and get out of this situation somehow. Does she get Mo Xuanyu's help? Wei Wuxian? Nie Huaisang? Does she successfully murder Jin Guangyao and escape on her own? Does she manage to avert the marriage entirely? So many fun options!

Why Lockhart
Gilderoy Lockhart is a very interesting character! An excellent and stunning character! And also a horrible person, which just makes him better. Lockhart annoys his coworkers, endangers his students, ruins lives, lies, steals, probably cheats when possible, focuses only on himself, gives absolutely ludicrously terrible advice........... what more could you want to write about? Also, his various crimes were never made public and his victims never found, informed, or compensated, which is such a wonderful dangling thread to pull.
If you're looking for direction on my favorite characters — because some people do! — you really can't go wrong with Hermione, Luna, Harry, Draco, Ron, Sirius, or the Weasley twins... but really I'm here for Lockhart content! I would be delighted to receive different characters, OCs, and/or extremely minor canon characters. I have received fic for this prompt using characters not on that list and it was amazing. Whoever your fave is, whoever you think is most interesting? I'm sure they'll be great!

- Case Fic — Lockhart must have investigated things for his books, so I would love to see what that looks like! Alternately, some non-Lockhart character investigates Lockhart's misdeeds?
- Time Travel - Peggy Sue — This is probably my favorite trope. Lockhart peggy sueing back to the beginning of his teaching term at Hogwarts would obviously be excellent, but I would also definitely enjoy a different character time travelling and dealing with Lockhart. Please feel free to give me 1.5k of fic that drops into the middle of a typical peggy sue plot! A short fic that reads like an excerpt of a longer time travel fic would really hit the spot.
- Amnesiac Investigates Themself And Accidentally Exposes All Of Their Terrible Crimes — I'd be interested in this as a comedy, a character study, or a tragedy. I just think it'd be neat and really compelling to see Lockhart slowly pulling apart his public persona to reveal to himself that he's a fraud and a monster.

Last year I finally started reading P&P fic and was struck by how often Caroline shows up as a major antagonist. She was the frequent target of character bashing and often cast as evil and/or greedy and/or frivolous and/or etc, and not that I don't love a good two-dimensional antagonist and not that I didn't gobble those P&P fics up because don't get me wrong, it was iddy as fuck, but I was also struck by the INTENSE need for a fic where Caroline is interesting and deep and, even if she's being terrible, treated like a rational human being with legitimate feelings and motives.
...That being said, I don't need Caroline to be nice, easy to get along with, pure of heart, or perfectly logical. I'm down for her to be a hot mess, I'm down for her to be jealous, I'm down for her to be playing stupid social status games! I like characters who are unlikeable and I love it when characters don't get along, so if you don't want to write about her and Elizabeth learning to like each other then that's totally fine. Exciting, even!
Background canon pairings are fine, but I would prefer a minimum of Elizabeth and Darcy in scenes together to keep the focus on Caroline & Elizabeth.
Also given that I am asking for them to possibly be put in difficult/dangerous situtaions, rape/threat of rape from a third party is fine to include but obviously as this is a gen exchange I don't want porn — I'm just interested in Caroline and Elizabeth dealing with the emotional and practical fallout!
